Hundreds of wolves have been killed in the northern Rockies since the Obama administration approved the Bush administration’s wrongheaded plan to prematurely eliminate federal protections for these magnificent animals — more than 230 have been killed during wolf hunts that began in September and continue in Idaho even now.

Idaho has already extended its hunting season, putting even more wolf families in the crosshairs even pregnant wolf mothers due to give birth this spring.

Urge President Obama to End the War on Wolves

The Idaho legislature has drafted an “emergency” resolution (HCR043) aimed at killing all but 150 of the 1,020 wolves in the state… “by any means.”

The resolution would open the door to extended wolf hunting seasons (including additional predator derbies targeting wolves), poisoning, trapping, and even aerial wolf-killing programs such as those used in Alaska and championed by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Urge Cabela’s and Sportman’s Warehouse to Withdraw their Support for Wolf-Killing Derbies

Cabela’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse — two major outdoor retailers — sponsored three recent “predator derbies, competitions where contestants were awarded three points for each wolf they killed.

The entry fees for these brutal competitions are being funneled to support anti-wolf lawyers and lobbyists working to keep wolves in Greater Yellowstone off the endangered species list… and squarely in the crosshairs of those who would do them harm.
