And despite the industry connections, the NRC in 2006 still stated that dogs have no essential dietary need to consume carbohydrate. That's something.

Yes, of course then their report goes on and on about the different sub-types of (non-essential) carbohydrates in dog food formulas. So they don't advocate against feeding carbs, despite their being no dietary need. KWIM?
