Hopefully this isn't a bust, with how many grocery stores/supermarkets there are in the country but it would be AWESOME if we would all share brands/stores that carry NOT ENHANCED TURKEYS. :startle:  I diverted to Walmart after work tonight and stumbled upon the frozen section and there was literally one side full of turkeys, about 5 different brands, and they were ALLLLL enhanced :( Very sad too, they were all around .85/lb.

Just got a new chest freezer and it was only plugged in for an hour to make sure that it worked....I wanna fill this bad boy up very soon! :D

I have yet to find a whole turkey not enhanced. Sad, but true. I'm sure there are some out there, but they aren't here, for sure. Non enhanced is hard to find.

I've found them before but cannot remember the brand or where I got them.

Natalie, does Plymouth Poultry offer un-enhanced birds? (I haven't filled out the application form yet)

Jordann,

Do you purchase from Plymouth Poultry in Seattle? We just created an account with them & are planning to order on Monday. Their prices are pretty good, from what we've seen around town.

I haven't gotten a chance to fill out the form and mail it in yet. I'd like to order from them, Natalie has spoken highly of them.

We have had quite the influx of Washington folks! :D

SCORE!
Picked up 4 turkeys at the commissary on base for .99/lb :D they were Foster farms!!! (Who would have thought??) actually, it makes sense with thanksgiving right around the corner. They were the fresh turkeys. Only one of those turkeys is for the humans XD

What a deal! Hopefully they have those birds up here at the commissary too! My grandma and mom are going shopping this weekend. Hoping they'll accidentally get two birds.

How do you go about breaking up a big ass frozen turkey once you DO find one that is not enhanced?

Natalie (PreyModelRaw) has a YouTube video on how to break down a bird. I pinned it in this forum. :)

All I can say is make sure it's thawed! I tried a semi-thawed bird and that was hard! lol

Her video is how I learned several years ago. It's really pretty easy.

When I was breaking them down last year, I could do it from beginning to being bagged up in 7 minutes. Love that video! The dogs crack me up.
